Russian antitrust opens case vs Google upon Yandex’s claim
MOSCOW, Feb 20 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has opened a case against Google following a claim submitted by domestic Internet giant Yandex, the authority’s Director Igor Artemyev said Friday.
“We’ve opened and surely do open many cases against various companies. Here is the recent case we have opened just today against, for example, Google, a well-known company,” Artemyev said.
On Wednesday, Yandex asked the antitrust authority to check violations of the antimonopoly law by Google, which allegedly uses its unique position in mobile operating systems to promote services that have nothing to do with the operating system.
Google owns the Android operating system, which is used by the bulk of mobile devices in the world.
